Peroorkada Police Station Crime No. Cr.2167/16

Three persons were arrested by Thiruvananthapuram City Police on 16.12.2016 for financial fraud of Rs 130 crore. The actress Dhanya Mary Varghese along with her husband John Jacob, Managing Director of the Samson and Sons Builders and Developers Private Ltd, and his brother Samuel Jacob, were taken into custody from Nagercoil on complaints from various persons who had invested in apartments and villas promised by the developers.

Their real estate company had taken up various projects in Thiruvananthapuram city in 2011, promising to deliver 500 flats and 20 villas within two years. They had collected Rs 100 crore as advance during booking from various people, including non-resident Keralites and another Rs 30 crore promising high interest. However, when they failed to deliver the promised flats, several people filed complaints with police.

In this connection following cases were registered in Peroorkada PS.

Kovalam Police Station Crime No. Cr.933/16

Two persons were arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram City police on 10.07.2016 in connection with the murder of 45-year-old Maryadas and the grievous attack on his wife Sheeja at Koliyoor, Crime number 1393/2016 of Kovalam PS. One Chandran, a native of Chidambarapuram in Tamil Nadu and Kolus Binu, a native of Parassala were arrested within a short period by the City Police.

Museum Police Station Crime No. 1221/16

Marian Gabriel, a Romanian, who involved in a case of ATM skimming in Thiruvananthapuram, has been arrested in Mumbai by Thiruvananthapuram City Police. He allegedly used a fake smoke detector, which had a SIM card, camera and micro chip, to carry out the crime. The culprits installed the device in an ATM counter, above the machine, and withdrew the money from the bank accounts of customers in Kerala, sitting in Colaba in Mumbai. Many of the bank customers came to know about the fraud after receiving text messages on Monday, informing them that money had been withdrawn from their accounts.
